What is an EMS (energy management system)?
An EMS coordinates generation, storage, charging and consumption, based on metering data and sometimes on energy prices.
An Energy Management System (EMS) is the control layer above your installation. It measures what you generate and consume, and then decides when to charge, discharge or export to the grid.
What control is possible depends on the equipment used. Not every system supports the same functions; we determine that during the design phase.
What an EMS can do
- Route surplus solar power to the battery instead of exporting it
- Align charging and discharging with dynamic hourly prices
- Limit peak load so the grid connection is not exceeded
- Adjust a charge point's charging power to match household consumption
