Do I need a three-phase connection for a charge point?
On single-phase you typically charge up to around 3.7 kW. If you want to charge faster, a three-phase connection is required.
With a single-phase connection, charging power is limited. For 11 kW or 22 kW you need a three-phase connection, plus a consumer unit and cabling sized for it.
Whether faster charging is necessary depends on your driving pattern. Anyone charging overnight at home often has plenty with a lower power.
Switching to three-phase
Upgrading to three-phase is arranged through your grid operator. We handle the electrical preparation inside the home: consumer unit, distribution and cabling.
