Earn from home charging with ERE
Do you have a suitable charger at home or a business charging solution? Then the electricity charged into an electric car may earn an additional payment through emission reduction units (ERE). Here is what is needed and how to sign up.
- For suitable residential and business charging solutions with a verifiable metering setup
- Registration and processing through our partner Stekker
- After a one-time registration, eligible charging sessions are processed automatically
What is ERE?
ERE stands for emission reduction unit. Driving electrically avoids CO₂ emissions compared with petrol or diesel. Those avoided emissions can be registered and traded as units, which means owners and operators of a suitable residential or business charging point may receive an additional payment for eligible electricity charged into an electric vehicle. This is not a government subsidy: the value is set by the market and can change. That is why we never quote a fixed amount per kilowatt-hour or per year.
Together with Stekker
Horst Energy Solutions works with Stekker for registration and processing. You register once; after that it is checked whether your charging point is supported and whether its charging data can be read out. If everything is in order, eligible charging sessions are processed automatically. Stekker's terms apply to the registration and the payout.
Which charging point qualifies?
Home charging generally requires a charging point with a built-in MID-certified kWh meter. For business sites or multiple charging points, the selected configuration and metering setup can also be decisive. A MID meter alone is not enough: the exact model, charging data and registration must be supported and accepted. This is checked during registration. Unsure about your situation? We are happy to look at it with you.
